Tragic plane crash in Indiana leaves no survivors

A devastating plane crash in the US midwest state of Indiana on September 6 has resulted in no survivors, according to police reports.

The incident involved a single-engine Piper PA-46, which departed Fort Dodge Regional Airport in Iowa, US media indicated, as per Caliber.Az.

The aircraft was headed for Anderson Municipal Airport, located about an hour northeast of Indianapolis. However, the plane went down in a nearby cornfield, as reported by Captain Darwin Dwiggins of the Madison County Sheriff's Department.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that four people were on board the aircraft, and none survived the crash. Dwiggins noted that the plane was too high on its initial landing approach and was instructed to attempt another approach. Witnesses reported that the pilot appeared to be trying to return to the airport before the crash, with one describing the plane as "flipping over and nosediving into the cornfield" before bursting into flames.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is leading the investigation into the crash, which occurred "under unknown circumstances." The process of cleaning up the wreckage and investigating the incident is expected to be extensive.

Fort Dodge Regional Airport, from which the plane departed, issued a statement describing the crash as "tragic" and confirmed that the aircraft was not based there. The airport extended its condolences to the victims' families and pledged full cooperation with the ongoing investigation.

In a related incident, a Beech A35 single-engine plane made an emergency landing on a North Carolina highway last week after losing engine power. Although the landing was completed safely, a vehicle later collided with the plane, resulting in minor injuries to a passenger. The vehicle's driver was unharmed.
