Trump assailant planned massacre at campaign rally, evidence shows The Wall Street Journal report
Significant findings regarding the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, revealed that the perpetrator aimed to orchestrate a massacre during a campaign rally held in Pennsylvania.
Law enforcement sources stated that evidence recovered from the scene implicates Thomas Matthew Crooks as the assailant, Caliber.Az reports citing the Wall Street Journal's investigation.
Among the items recovered were two homemade bombs equipped with remote detonators, body armour for protection, and three magazines, each containing 30 rounds of ammunition. These discoveries paint a chilling picture of the potential scale of violence planned for the rally. Furthermore, investigators found additional explosives inside Crooks' vehicle, which was strategically parked near the venue where Trump was scheduled to deliver a speech.
Intriguingly, the investigation also uncovered concerning details about Crooks' activities leading up to the incident. Over the preceding months, Crooks had received several packages labelled as "hazardous materials" at his residence, indicating a premeditated and potentially lethal intent.
Moreover, his online search history revealed queries not only about Trump's campaign rallies but also about President Joe Biden and the upcoming Democratic Party convention scheduled for August. This range of interests complicates efforts to pinpoint a clear ideological motive behind Crooks' actions, leaving investigators grappling with the complexities of his intentions.
