Trump calls for "peace on Earth" at Mar-a-Lago New Year’s eve gala
President Donald Trump called for “peace on Earth” as he rang in the New Year with first lady Melania Trump at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, on December 31.
Speaking briefly to reporters outside the club’s ballroom, Trump said of his 2026 resolution: “Peace on Earth,” before entering the venue for the lavish New Year’s Eve celebration, US media reports.
The first lady stood by his side in a striking silver gown.
Inside the packed ballroom, Trump addressed guests, praising the country’s performance. “We’re back. We’re strong,” he declared. “The country is doing great.”
Throughout 2025, President Trump repeatedly claimed he had ended multiple wars since taking office — at times saying he had stopped six, seven, or even eight wars. He framed this as a major diplomatic achievement and part of his foreign policy success.
In public remarks and speeches, Trump has said the U.S. played a central role in ending conflicts such as Armenia-Azerbaijan, Israel‑Iran, Gaza hostilities and border clashes between Thailand and Cambodia, and he has linked this to his efforts on other disputes around the world.
