Trump sees no reason to economically isolate Russia, says vice president
US Vice President J.D. Vance stated that President Donald Trump “hasn't seen any reason” to economically isolate Russia“ except for the continuation of the conflict, and is open to restoring cooperation on a broad range of economic initiatives once the war in Ukraine is resolved.
Speaking in an interview with One America News Network, Vance said the President had been clear with both European allies and Russian officials about his position, emphasizing that continued economic pressure on Moscow might only serve to prolong the conflict.
According to Vance, President Trump believes that once peace is achieved, there should be room for economic engagement that serves US interests. He underscored that Trump’s top priority is to bring an end to the war and stop the loss of life, suggesting that punitive economic measures should not become a long-term strategy unless they directly support peace efforts.
Vance added that the administration is prepared to consider a wide range of mutually beneficial economic agreements with Russia in a post-war environment, provided that such cooperation aligns with American values and geopolitical interests.
