EU's top diplomat sounds alarm over Moscow’s backing of Iran
30 April 2026 17:11
Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, said on Thursday, April 30, that Russia’s public support for Iran in its confrontation with the United States raises concerns about ongoing contacts between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Speaking to reporters in Estonia, Kallas questioned the implications of such communications in light of Moscow’s rhetoric.
"Of course, when we see these calls between President Trump and President Putin, then always, you know, there are a lot of questions unanswered, considering that Russia is openly praising the heroic battle that Iran is having against America," Kallas said.
