Zelenskyy reports massive Russian assault on civilian targets
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia carried out a large-scale attack targeting civilian infrastructure, with rescue teams and emergency services working across affected areas since last night.
“All those injured by this strike will receive assistance. This is our duty, and the state will fulfill it. I am grateful to everyone working on the ground after the attacks to help our people,” Zelenskyy said in a post on Facebook, adding that at least 83 people have been injured since the start of the day, with fatalities also reported.
He described the strike as extensive, involving 90 missiles of various types — including 36 ballistic missiles — as well as 600 drones, noting that not all ballistic missiles were intercepted.
Zelenskyy said Kyiv was the primary target, with the capital sustaining the most hits.
“Putin is still defeating residential buildings with his missiles. Three Russian missiles struck a water supply facility, burned down a market, damaged dozens of residential buildings and several ordinary schools. He launched his ‘Oreshnik’ against Bila Tserkva. It is truly inadequate. It is important that this does not go without consequences for Russia,” he added.
The president stressed that anyone in the world who does not remain silent and supports Ukraine is “defending life.”
“We are doing everything to establish peace and protect people. And it is important that Ukraine is not left alone. Decisions are needed from the United States, from Europe, and from others,” Zelenskyy stated.
