Trump to impose 25% tariffs on countries cooperating with Iran
US President Donald Trump announced that he will impose 25 percent tariffs on countries that cooperate with Iran.
Trump said in a post on Truth Social that any country doing business with the Islamic Republic of Iran would face a 25% tariff on all transactions conducted with the United States of America from that moment onward, Caliber.Az reports.
Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on January 12 that the US president is considering a range of options toward Iran, including the use of force, but prefers a diplomatic solution.
“I think one thing President Trump is very good at is always keeping all of his options on the table. Airstrikes would be of the many, many options that are on the table for the commander-in-chief,” Leavitt said.
At the same time, she stressed that “diplomacy is always the first option with Trump,” while adding that he is not afraid to use military options if he deems it necessary, and that Iran knows this better than anyone.
