Turkic states sign Shusha communiqué on joint market regulation efforts PHOTO
The Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) has agreed a joint framework to deepen cooperation on competition policy, following a high-level meeting of regulatory officials held in Shusha, Azerbaijan.
At the conclusion of the third meeting of heads of competition authorities from OTS member states, officials signed a joint communiqué outlining expanded coordination in antitrust enforcement, market oversight and institutional cooperation, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Organisation of Turkic States said the agreement sets out strategic priorities for closer alignment among member states’ competition watchdogs, including joint analytical work and information-sharing mechanisms.
Speaking to journalists in Shusha, the Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Agency for Antimonopoly Control and Supervision of the Consumer Market, Elnur Baghirov, said the communiqué provides a roadmap for practical cooperation going forward.
He noted that the parties had agreed to launch a joint sectoral study and establish three specialised working groups focused on competition policy and enforcement coordination.
According to Baghirov, Azerbaijan would continue to support efforts to strengthen institutional ties between competition authorities across the bloc.
Officials described the initiative as part of broader efforts to harmonise regulatory approaches within the OTS framework and to improve market governance across member states.
The meeting concluded with consensus on expanding technical cooperation and sustaining regular dialogue between national agencies.
