Turkish, Azerbaijani, Georgian defence ministers reaffirm strategic cooperation
Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Georgia have reiterated their commitment to deepening regional cooperation during a trilateral meeting of their defence ministers held in Ankara.
Speaking at a press conference following the meeting, Turkish Minister of National Defence Yaşar Güler stated that the close cooperation among the three countries serves as an example for others. He underlined that Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Georgia share historical ties and maintain strategic relations, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Güler noted that the discussions in the Turkish capital once again highlighted a shared desire to strengthen both bilateral and trilateral cooperation. According to him, recent developments in the region have reinforced hopes for a new chapter in the South Caucasus, one based on peace, stability and cooperation.
The ministers expressed their readiness to enhance collaboration in the fields of defence and security, which they believe will contribute to a peaceful future for the region. Güler reiterated Türkiye’s support for the independence and territorial integrity of both Azerbaijan and Georgia.
Describing the South Caucasus as critical for regional stability and international security, Guler said that the close cooperation among Ankara, Baku and Tbilisi is in the interest of all three nations. He added that this shared vision was also reflected in the Trilateral Protocol signed on October 9 in Ankara.
