Turkish drones reshape battlefield as Sudanese army retakes key areas VIDEO
The Sudanese army, which received Turkish drones in March, has used them to retake the regions of Baru and Umm Sayyalu from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), underscoring how Turkish drones are shifting the course of the conflict.
African affairs researcher Umut Çağrı Sarı noted that the death toll has already exceeded 250,000 people and that eight million others are trapped under siege and starving, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
“All of this horror scenario was scripted in Tel Aviv, while the UAE, Haftar and other field actors have merely been its executors. The Turkish drones acquired in March disrupted the plan and the future of the region has begun to change. The occupied areas of Bara and Umm Sayyale have been liberated once again,” he added.
Sarı recalled that coup forces still dominate five of Sudan’s 18 states. Highlighting the Sudanese army’s call for mobilisation, he said: “Sudan’s revolutionary government had severed ties with Ankara for a while. But starting from March last year, new contacts were restored and supplies began reaching the region. TB2 drones arrived first, followed by AKINCI. After that, Al-Jazeera, Khartoum, Geneina and Kordofan were freed from occupation.”
He noted that from April and May onward, Turkish influence became visible, with critical operations targeting supply lines and strategic centres and weakening the militias.
The researcher added that even though the Israel–UAE alliance deployed China’s FK-2000 air-defence systems along the front line, the separatists have continued to suffer losses, saying that the latest gains in Bara and Umm-Sayyala clearly demonstrate this trend. He suggested that Sudan may see a scenario similar to Libya.

Emphasising that intense fighting is underway on five fronts, Sarı noted that the RSF is suffering heavy losses, particularly from sudden airstrikes. Their stronghold, Nyala, was also struck by drones. Since the RSF is not a regular army and lacks the infrastructure required for multi-front warfare, its offensive is collapsing rapidly.
Umut Çağrı Sarı added that the whole world has witnessed what the Turkish military mindset achieved on fronts such as Libya and Syria, and said the Sudanese now want Türkiye, which they view as the hope of oppressed nations and the Islamic world, to stand even more firmly beside them against what he described as a historic massacre.

Since 15 April 2023, Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have been locked in a brutal power struggle across Sudan.
The RSF evolved from the Janjaweed militias active in Darfur and now challenges the national army’s authority.
The war has triggered one of the largest humanitarian crises globally: millions displaced, widespread hunger, and dire civilian suffering.
