Turkish FM warns Israel’s attack on Iran pushes region to brink of catastrophe
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has condemned Israel’s recent attacks on Iran, warning that the aggression is driving the Middle East region to the edge of a total catastrophe.
Speaking at a meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers in Istanbul, Fidan called on Muslim countries to unite in opposition to Israel’s actions, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
He warned that Israel was dragging the region to the brink of "total disaster" and affirmed that Türkiye would continue its constructive and pioneering role by raising the voice of the Islamic world and prioritising justice during these turbulent times.
Fidan described the situation as an ongoing crisis stretching from Gaza to Iran, Lebanon, and Yemen, stressing that Israel’s military operations have created a widespread “Israel problem” in the region. He emphasised the urgent need for world powers to act decisively to prevent the conflict from escalating into a broader war.
The foreign minister also said that as Türkiye during its presidency, they would "raise the voice of the Islamic world even higher, prioritise the establishment of global justice, and continue to stand against oppression."
Highlighting Türkiye’s role, Fidan praised the broad participation of Muslim countries at the meeting as a sign of solidarity amid the crisis.
The OIC meeting in Istanbul comes amid heightened tensions across the Middle East, with fears growing that localised conflicts could spiral into wider regional instability.
