Turkish president congratulates Azerbaijani leader on ruling party's election win
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan extended his congratulations to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev following the decisive victory of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) in the recent snap elections to the Milli Majlis.
The congratulatory message was conveyed during a phone conversation between the two leaders, as reported by Caliber.Az and published on the official website of the Azerbaijani president.
Erdogan highlighted the historic nature of the elections, noting that this was the first time they were conducted across the entire territory of Azerbaijan. He commended the democratic and free environment in which the elections took place, reflecting the will of the Azerbaijani people.
In response, Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the congratulatory message and underscored the significance of the strong inter-parliamentary relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye. The leaders also discussed the importance of regular mutual visits by parliamentary delegations from both nations.
The conversation also touched on the substantial presence of observers from the inter-parliamentary friendship group of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, who monitored the election process in Azerbaijan.
