Türkiye, China to cooperate on nuclear, renewable energy, and battery production Energy chief unveils
Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, assessed energy cooperation between Türkiye and China in an interview with CGTN Türk.
Bayraktar stated that collaboration with China is possible, particularly in the fields of nuclear and renewable energy, energy transmission, and mining. He added that Türkiye offers significant opportunities in energy storage and battery production, and that Chinese companies are considering establishing manufacturing facilities in Türkiye.
Speaking about potential new energy projects with China, Bayraktar said: “Türkiye and China could cooperate in various regions, including Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and the Balkans. Opportunities for cooperation between Türkiye and China were discussed at meetings held during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in recent weeks.”
Bayraktar also mentioned discussions with China on an offshore wind power project: “The offshore wind power project would be the first of its kind in Türkiye, and we may implement it together with Chinese companies. We plan to build new power transmission lines, particularly to transport electricity to Europe. We announced a program worth around $30 billion through 2035, which has attracted significant interest. It also fully aligns with China’s ‘Belt and Road’ initiative.”
