Türkiye plans to export naval artillery installations PHOTO
Türkiye continues negotiations on export contracts for the supply of naval artillery systems developed by Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi (MKE).
Negotiations are underway with three countries of the world, Anadolu Agency reports, quoting MKE CEO Yasin Akdere.
Sixty-two of 484 items of the company's defence products were presented at the arms exhibition organised as part of the Efes-2022 international exercises in Izmir, he said.
Referring to the development of naval artillery installations, Akdere noted that this project is at the completion stage and is of particular importance for the Turkish national defence.
"The project closes an important gap in the defence complex. Work on the artillery installation as a whole has been completed, the 76-mm ammunition remained an important component. We are glad to inform you that the tests of the domestically produced ammunition were also successful," he said.
According to Akdere, Turkish Navy vessels will be equipped with domestic artillery installations in the near future.
"The tests on land were successful. Artillery installations make 80 rounds per minute. The last tests with live firing in the port and in the open sea will be carried out soon," he said.
