Türkiye's new military-industrial complex: Torpedo boats ARES 32 PHOTO

Türkiye has introduced a new family of torpedo boats ARES 32, which has two different configurations: DAGGER and PREDATOR.

Turkish defence news website Defense Turk reported this on its Twitter page, Caliber.Az says.

The new 32-metre torpedo boats reach speeds of more than 45 knots and have very high manoeuvring capabilities for quick interception and execution of "hit and run" type tasks in stormy conditions up to six points.

With a range of 2,000 nautical miles, the vessels have more than sufficient operational coverage to operate in exclusive economic zones, which complicates the operation of fast attack ships in service with naval forces and coastal security units.

The ARES 32 torpedo boats were designed in two versions with an identical design depending on the payload on board.

The ARES 32 PREDATOR is equipped with a new generation of ROKETSAN, two single-container CAKIR cruise missiles with an effective range of more than 150 km, in addition to four-element shorter-range L-UMTAS laser-guided missiles, and the DAGGER variant is armed with two four-element infrared/laser-guided missiles for relatively shorter-range targets.

Both versions of the ARES 32 PREDATOR & DAGGER have 25-mm or 30-mm remotely controlled automatically stabilised naval weapons systems on the bow deck for hitting sea or land targets at a closer distance. In addition, two 12.7 mm machine guns are located on the upper deck to protect against asymmetric threats such as pirates, smugglers or illegal traffickers.

The ARES 32 PREDATOR and DAGGER ships are equipped with cutting-edge combat control systems, X- and S-band radars, electro-optical surveillance and designation systems, as well as RHIB with a ramp on the aft deck for boarding, search and rescue operations. Thanks to the modern design solution of ARES, they are designed for areas with intense asymmetric threats.
