Former Irkutsk boxing chief detained in Armenia over 2003 mass murder VIDEO
Former president of the Irkutsk Regional Boxing Federation and businessman Sergei Silko has been detained on suspicion of murdering four people.
Silko was reportedly apprehended in Armenia. He is a suspect in a criminal case involving the murder of four individuals committed in 2003. In addition, the businessman is suspected of other crimes committed between 1998 and 2003, including extortion and the disappearance of several people, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media sources.
The 2003 murder case had been suspended multiple times due to the inability to identify a suspect. In November 2023, the investigation was reopened and merged with other related criminal cases.
In April 2024, Silko was declared internationally wanted in absentia, and a Russian court ordered his arrest in absentia for two months pending detention. He is expected to be extradited to Russia in the near future.
