Poland hands note of protest to Russia after drone crash
The Polish Foreign Ministry has handed a formal note of protest to Russia following the crash of a drone in eastern Poland, the ministry said in a statement.
Warsaw accused Moscow of carrying out a “deliberate provocation” and of violating Poland’s sovereignty, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The incident occurred on August 20, when police reported an explosion at around 2:00 a.m. local time in a cornfield in the village of Osiny, Lublin Voivodeship. The blast shattered windows in nearby houses, but no casualties were reported.
A regional prosecutor said the investigation has yet to establish the manufacturer or model of the drone. The site lies roughly 100 kilometers from the Belarusian border. Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Kosiniak-Kamysz asserted—without presenting evidence—that the drone originated from Russia.
