Türkiye showcases Bayraktar Kizilelma strike jet at Samsun festival PHOTO
The Bayraktar Kizilelma strike jet has been showcased at the TEKNOFEST KARADENIZ festival in Türkiye's Samsun city.
"The Kizilelma is based on the same new generation platform as the F-35 jets. It carries the future itself," TEKNOFEST Chairman Selcuk Bayraktar, demonstrating Bayraktar Kızılelma, Türkiye's first combat unmanned fighter aircraft, said, according to Yeni Safak.
He noted that Kizilelma would be able to shoot down 5th-generation fighter jets through new technologies.
Two and three variants of Kizilelma are currently being considered. There will also be a supersonic version.
The supersonic version of Kizilelma also has its advantages, as the subsonic one. It depends on its mission. It is possible to fly longer at subsonic speed.
Possible engine options for the Kizilelma jet in the medium term are as follows:
Subsonic:
▪️ 1 x AI-25TLT (16.5 kN)
▪️ 1 x TEI-TF6000 (26.5 kN)
Supersonic with afterburner:
▪️ 1 x AI-322F (41 kN)
▪️ 2 x AI-322F (41 kN)
▪️ 1 x TEI-TF6000A (44.5 kN)
▪️ 2 x TEI-TF6000A (44.5 kN)
Kizilelma was designed taking into account low radar visibility. It was designed to carry ammunition on the wings and under the fuselage.
Bayraktar Kizilelma unmanned fighter aircraft is capable of carrying:
▪️ Kuzgun-TJ/SS guided air bomb.
▪️ Akdogan, Gokdogan, Bozdogan air-to-air missiles.
▪️ High-precision target kit Lacin, Gokce, Gozde, HGK-82/82/84, Teber-81/82, LGK, LHGK-84.
▪️ Cakir, Akbaba (anti-radar missile), SOM-J (launched outside the air defence zone) air-to-surface missiles.
Bayraktar said that he sees it as the first step into the world of unmanned fighter jets and considers it more appropriate to develop it on his own.
"It is possible to achieve superiority over the 5th generation. The main issue here is to make innovations continuous. If we try to build the F-35 today, by the time you build it, other powers in the world will have moved on. It's better to focus on where the future is headed rather than chasing it. By innovating, you neutralise traditional technologies," he said.
