Türkiye tests VTOL-type Bayraktar drone VIDEO
Türkiye has tested a new vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial vehicle developed by domestic defence company Baykar.
The video footage showing off the drone was posted by the Turkish military newsmaker DEFENCE TURK on its Twitter page.
The Bayraktar drone has successfully reached an operational altitude of 8,000ft (2,438 metres), according to a defence announcement.
The drone, which is scheduled to enter service as early as 2023, has autonomous and semi-autonomous flight capabilities, as well as autonomous take-off and landing.
The new drone will, among others, be based on the Turkish Navy's flagship, the amphibious assault ship TCG Anadolu.
The tactical drone can also perform monitoring and intelligence-gathering tasks.
