Türkiye unveils new domestic machine guns at intl exhibition in UAE PHOTO

Turkish machinery manufacturing company KALEKALIP has put on display new models of machine guns KMG556 and KMG762 at the international exhibition IDEX in the United Arab Emirates.

The machine guns have a shorter barrel and folding buttstock compared to their standard models, Caliber.Az reports, citing the local news portal Defence Turk’s Twitter page.

The KMG556CL machine gun is fitted with a 10.5 calibre barrel and folding buttstock. The gun weighs 5.6kg, which is 3kg lighter than the standard model.

The folding gun stock is adjustable up to five levels. The effective firing range is 400 to 600 metres. The machine gun, which can fire 750 to 1,000 rounds per minute, operates with a long-stroke gas piston system such as the KMG556.

Another featured weapon, the KMG762CL, has the same short barrel and folding stock as the KMG556CL. With an optional 16" barrel length, the weapon has a long lifespan thanks to the easy-to-replace chrome-plated cold-forged steel barrel.

All types of optics, torches and lasers can be attached to the gun using Picatinny bars on the weapon, whose folding telescopic buttstock can be adjusted to five different levels. The machine gun operates with a long-stroke gas piston system. In this context, the weapon uses 7.62x51 NATO standard ammunition.
