The United Arab Emirates (UAE) provided humanitarian mediation in the return of Russian servicemen from Ukrainian captivity as part of a prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine, the Russian Ministry of Defence said.
According to the ministry, the UAE played a mediating role in facilitating the return of the Russian personnel, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“The United Arab Emirates provided humanitarian mediation efforts during the return of Russian servicemen from captivity,” the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry said the returned servicemen are currently in Belarus, where they are receiving the necessary psychological and medical assistance. They will later be transferred to Russia for further treatment and rehabilitation at medical facilities operated by the Russian Ministry of Defence.
The announcement followed a prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine conducted on a 185-for-185 basis, according to previously reported information.
