UK allocates additional $680 million to strengthen Ukraine’s air defence
The United Kingdom will provide Ukraine with £500 million ($680 million) to bolster its air defence capabilities.
UK Defence Secretary John Healey announced the funding ahead of a meeting of defence ministers from alliance member states, Caliber.Az reports.
“This afternoon, I'll be confirming that Britain is providing an extra half a billion pounds in urgent air defence to Ukraine,” he noted.
The Defence Secretary stated that the UK is acting as a force for good, strengthening European security within NATO, and reaffirmed the nation’s pride in its armed forces, leadership, and steadfast commitment to support, defend, and fight alongside its allies in the face of emerging threats.
Earlier, Healey had confirmed that the UK would join the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) program, contributing an initial £150 million ($204 million).
