Russian MFA: Ukraine could have become “technological Dubai”
The vast sums spent by Western countries on supporting Ukraine could have transformed the country into a "technological Dubai," Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said.
She noted that the West are prepared to spend hundreds of billions on destruction and devastation; however, when it comes to building something, they want to take away more and more every time, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“With the money that Western Europe has sent as so-called aid to Kyiv, Ukraine could have been rebuilt into a modern 'European Dubai' — at least in technological terms," she added.
Zakharova also urged European countries to abandon what she described as Paris' "suicidal philosophising" about extending a "nuclear umbrella" and instead focus on addressing the numerous problems that Brussels had fostered within the European Union over recent decades.
“The European Union has truly pressing problems that it should be dealing with, rather than reinforcing the disastrous, destructive trends it has already created over recent decades. It should use its remaining resources — or invite someone into its 'intellectual kingdom' in Brussels — to help minimise the consequences of what it has done,” she stressed.
According to her, new dangerous trends are now emerging — militarisation with a nuclear component, given the so-called proposals and the simply suicidal philosophising by official Paris about extending the 'nuclear umbrella' and involving Western European countries in these processes.
Instead, Zakharova made it clear that the European Union should concentrate on the many real challenges it faces.
