Ukraine parliament speaker outlines Kyiv’s red lines for Russia talks
Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada (parliament) Speaker, Ruslan Stefanyuk, outlined Kyiv’s red lines, specifying the key conditions it will not compromise on in peace negotiations with Russia.
Following President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s address to Sweden, he emphasised that Ukraine will not accept any legal recognition of territories occupied by Russia, restrictions on the Ukrainian Armed Forces, or limits on future international alliances, Caliber.Az reports via BBC.
He described these conditions as rules that “no-one can violate” in the negotiation process.
Stefanyuk also stressed that Ukraine’s membership in the European Union and NATO must be included in any future peace agreement.
Earlier, Zelenskyy told Swedish lawmakers that the “main problem” in peace talks is Russian President Vladimir Putin’s demand for legal recognition of territory seized from Ukraine.
He warned that such recognition would violate Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, stressing that borders “cannot be changed by force.”
Zelenskyy concluded by urging continued international pressure on Russia, noting that Moscow “is still killing people.”
