Ukraine preparing to ban 7 more pro-Russian parties
Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Justice Valeria Kolomiets has said that 10 pro-Russian parties have already been banned from functioning in Ukraine, and the issue of banning 7 more such parties is under the consideration by a court.
“Eleven of them (out of 17 lawsuits regarding the ban on the activities of pro-Russian parties ) - in pursuance of the decision of the National Security and Defence Council, 5 – to get information from the Security Service of Ukraine about the criminal activities of these political forces, including for helping the occupier. And one party, the name of which differs from the name of the territorial representations, is the United Russia party, its territorial divisions are called “Putin's Politicians”. We have been considering this case for a year now,” the Ukrainian news service Radio Svoboda quotes Kolomiets saying on June 21.
The deputy minister noted that none of the banned parties appealed against the court's decision.
Kolomiets is confident that most, maybe even all, will appeal - the parties still have 20 days to do this.
