Ukraine redirects military units from border with Belarus to Kursk
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have begun withdrawing their military units from the Belarusian border.
This decision is accompanied by the redeployment of servicemen to other strategically important areas, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.
In particular, servicemen will be redirected to the Kursk region and to the combat lines near Pokrovsk and Vuhledar. Additionally, troops will be sent to Zaporizhzhia to bolster positions in that region. There is also a possibility that combat-ready units may be redeployed to prepare for a potential amphibious operation in Crimea, depending on the evolving situation and operational needs. An important aspect is the effective use of forces and resources in response to changing front-line conditions and potential threats.
On the morning of August 6, the first combat units of the Ukrainian army shifted from defence to offensive operations and crossed the border into Russia.
For nearly a week, Ukrainian authorities maintained a media blackout regarding the operation in the Kursk region, neither confirming nor denying the presence of Ukrainian forces on Russian territory.
Even field commanders had limited information and were unaware of the ultimate objectives of the operation.
