Ukraine reports damage to railways after nighttime Russian attacks PHOTO
Russia carried out overnight attacks on Ukrainian cities and villages, inflicting significant damage on residential areas and key logistics infrastructure, including railway facilities, Ukrainian officials said.
Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba noted that, the Sumy region was among the hardest hit. Russian forces launched a large-scale drone assault targeting railway infrastructure across the region.
In the Shostka district, a railway employee—a station duty officer traveling to work—was caught in the attack and sustained injuries. She was promptly provided with medical assistance. A direct strike also hit a “Wagon of Resilience,” a mobile heating facility installed to support local residents. Although civilians sheltering nearby were unharmed, the wagon itself, railway buildings, and a locomotive suffered damage.
The railway’s energy infrastructure in the area was also targeted. Separately, Russian forces attacked a railway station in the Okhtyrka district, damaging technical facilities and rail tracks. Authorities said all damage is being repaired on an expedited basis.
