Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau clears Zelenskyy of investigation status
The Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), Semen Kryvonos, has stated that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has not been and is not currently a subject of any pre-trial investigation related to defence procurement and drone production.
During a briefing of NABU, Kryvonos said he cannot name companies so as not to violate the presumption of innocence, Caliber.Az reports, citing UNIAN.
“We spoke about the defence sector; it is being investigated within NABU. Manufacturers and certain drone producers are under investigation,” he noted.
According to him, the investigation continues across several areas, including energy and defence, as well as procurement of drones and weapons.
“Numerous international cooperation requests have also been sent,” he added.
The briefing was dedicated to the case involving former head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, where the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) also attended.
A hearing on the preventive measure for Yermak is currently being prepared at the High Anti-Corruption Court, with the session scheduled for 16:00. NABU served him with a notice of suspicion the previous day.
The Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office is seeking detention as a preventive measure, with the option of bail set at 180 million hryvnias.
Earlier reports suggested that Zelenskyy could potentially become a subject in the “Midas” case.
