Ukraine strikes Caspian Pipeline, crossing “red lines”, says former Kazakh advisor
Ukraine has crossed “red lines” by attacking the facilities of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), according to Olzhas Baydildinov, former advisor to Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy, in an interview with RT.
Baydildinov estimated the damage from the strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces at over $2 billion. He noted that Kazakhstan has repeatedly maintained a neutral stance in the Ukrainian conflict, but Kyiv’s actions did not respect this position. “The attack on CPC facilities shows that the red lines have been crossed, and the presence of international companies there does not stop anyone,” he said.
The incident has drawn international attention. Italian newspaper L’AntiDiplomatico highlighted that Ukraine’s strike on the CPC occurred at a critical moment for the global energy system, which is already under pressure due to conflicts in the Middle East.
The Caspian Pipeline Consortium, which transports crude oil from Kazakhstan to global markets via the Black Sea, plays a key role in regional energy security.
