Ukraine to receive €1.7 billion from Belgium after reinvesting Russian assets
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said there had been no "tangible result" from the use of frozen Russian assets so far, at a press conference with Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics.
According to Gazeta.ru, the broadcast was posted on the Ukrainian leader's Facebook page.
"So far, Ukraine has not seen any tangible result from the use of the frozen assets," Zelenskyy said.
At the same time, the Ukrainian president said that Ukraine would receive €1.7 billion from Belgium "in the form of taxes on interest from frozen assets" of the Russian Federation. This is income from reinvesting frozen assets. According to him, this is "the first tangible step".
He added that Kyiv was interested in revenues of around €15-18 billion.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that the administration of US President Joe Biden supported the adoption of legislative measures that would allow the confiscation of frozen Russian assets worth some $300 billion to pay for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
