Ukraine to see EU accession benefits only in 10 years, deputy PM says
Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Taras Kachka, has said that the tangible results of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union will become noticeable only after ten years, stressing that the country is prepared for such a long-term perspective.
Kachka made the remarks during a panel discussion at the Ukraine House in Davos, organised by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, Caliber.Az reports, citing European media.
According to Kachka, the process of joining the EU is not merely a legal formality for Ukraine, but a large-scale project involving deep structural transformations across the country.
He added that while EU membership is often perceived as something of a miracle, in reality it requires hard and sustained work.
“We will see the result in ten years,” the deputy prime minister said, explaining that such changes take time and require proper planning.
Referring to Poland’s experience, Kachka recalled that when the country joined the EU in 2004, the changes were not immediately visible, but two decades later the transformation is evident. “We are ready for this long-term perspective, but it requires proper planning,” he emphasised.
