Ukrainian children to benefit from expanded recovery program in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan and Ukraine have held discussions on strengthening cooperation in social protection, including plans to expand the 2026 program for the recreation and rehabilitation of Ukrainian children.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Baku Yuriy Gusev shared details of the meeting with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, Anar Aliyev, via social media, Caliber.Az reports.
“I expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s support and assistance to Ukraine, and extended special appreciation for the recreation and rehabilitation program for Ukrainian children, which was launched in 2022. The program has already helped hundreds of our children restore their physical and psychological well-being amid the full-scale Russian invasion, thanks to the hospitable and fraternal environment of Azerbaijan. We discussed the continuation and expansion of the program in 2026,” Ambassador Gusev wrote.
He added that the meeting also focused on exchanging expertise in creating inclusive children’s centers, particularly in the Ukrainian city of Irpin, based on a facility whose construction is planned with Azerbaijani support.
“We agreed on systematic interaction and coordination in the field of social protection,” the diplomat concluded.
