Ukrainian military gets Skykit autonomous reconnaissance centres
The Ukrainian military has received state-of-the-art Skykit autonomous reconnaissance centres. Their technology enables them to monitor war developments in real-time.
French news magazine L'Express reports that Ukrainian fighters can use dozens, possibly hundreds, of Skykit suitcases in combat operations, developed by the US company Palantir, which supplies spy and military control systems to the US and other Western countries.
Palantir director Alex Karp said that his company is responsible for part of the target designation in Ukraine.
It should be noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Karp in Kyiv in June 2022. Then they discussed further cooperation in the field of security and safety, as well as digitalisation.
We would like to add that Skykit was officially unveiled in January, so Ukrainian defenders could receive the system even before the official presentation.
Palantir Skykit is a fully autonomous reconnaissance centre. It contains two built-in monitors, rechargeable power packs, and a dedicated laptop. It is also equipped with a Quadcopter drone and a small Trailcam Nano camera.
Skykit gives the military the ability to efficiently process intelligence, make decisions and execute operations from remote locations. It also enables tasking and analysis from anywhere on the battlefield.
The system has its own secure satellite link. The Ukrainian military can connect to one of 40 commercial satellites, analyse the data collected by different AI modules and "see" the enemy.
Depending on intergovernmental agreements, Skykit may also gain access to military satellites, such as those of the Pentagon.
