UN: ICJ ruling on Gaza binding on all parties
The UN International Court of Justice's ruling on provisional measures in the Gaza genocide lawsuit is binding on all parties, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said in a statement, per Anadolu.
Guterres drew attention to the rulings of the International Court of Justice that "Israel must refrain from any acts of murder, attacks and destruction against the inhabitants of Gaza, take all measures to prevent genocide" and "immediately cease its military operations in Gaza."
The UN secretary-general particularly emphasised the court's ruling that Israel must ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid and basic services.
"The Secretary-General recalls that, following the Court's Statute and Rules of Court, the Court's judgements are binding on all parties and hopes that all parties will respect those judgements," the statement said.
Under the Statute of the Court, the Secretary-General will refer the provisional measures taken by the International Court of Justice against Israel to the UN Security Council, the statement said.
