Unidentified drone spotted over French military convoy, police station
French authorities have launched an investigation after an unidentified drone was spotted flying over a military convoy and police facilities in the eastern city of Mulhouse on the night of November 11.
The drone was observed making several flights shortly before midnight over a railway sorting station where a convoy of Leclerc main battle tanks was stationed. A security officer raised the alarm after detecting the aircraft, Caliber.Az reports, citing Europe 1.
Minutes earlier, police officers also reported sighting a drone above the central police station in Mulhouse. Witnesses said the drone made at least two passes before disappearing.
The incidents come amid growing concern in France and across Europe over drone activity near sensitive military and industrial sites. Just a day earlier, another unidentified drone was seen flying over the Eurenco powder factory in Bergerac, southwestern France—a facility that manufactures propellants for large-calibre artillery shells, including those supplied to Ukraine.
Authorities have increased surveillance of critical infrastructure in recent months, following a series of unexplained drone incursions across European airspace. In recent months, similar overflights have led to temporary air traffic disruptions in Germany, Belgium, and Sweden.
In late September, drones were also detected over the Mourmelon military base in France’s Marne region, where Ukrainian troops have undergone training. Officials described the drones as “small devices” and said there was no immediate evidence linking them to foreign interference.
