US approves sale of AMRAAM air-to-air missiles to Denmark
The US State Department has approved two separate potential Foreign Military Sales (FMS) to Denmark worth a combined estimated $3.73 billion, involving Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) equipment with Indirect Fire Protection Capability and AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM).
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has notified Congress and provided the required certifications for the proposed transactions, Caliber.Az reports, citing Army Technology.
Denmark has requested to purchase IBCS equipment valued at approximately $3 billion. The proposed package includes 24 All-Up Round Magazines, eight Indirect Fire Protection Capability Increment 2 launchers, two Sentinel A4 radars integrated with IBCS, two IBCS Engagement Operations Centers, two IBCS Integrated Collaborative Environments, and six Integrated Fire Control Network relays.
The sale also covers reload vehicles, communications and encryption equipment, tools and test equipment, generators, technical publications, training systems, spare and repair parts, as well as personnel training. Additional support would include Technical Assistance Field Team services, US government and contractor technical support, systems integration and checkout, field office support, and related logistics.
The principal contractors for the IBCS sale are RTX, Lockheed Martin, Leidos, and Northrop Grumman. The US government said no offset agreement is currently in place, noting that any such arrangements would be negotiated directly between Denmark and the contractors.
Implementation of the sale would require the deployment of between nine and 14 US government personnel and 12 to 17 contractor representatives to Denmark for periods of up to seven years to support system fielding, training, and technical and logistical assistance.
Under a separate transaction estimated at $730 million, Denmark has requested the purchase of 200 AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM missiles and three AMRAAM guidance sections. The package also includes control sections, missile containers, support equipment, spare parts, consumables and accessories, repair-and-return services, software packages—both classified and unclassified—and related engineering and logistical support. RTX has been identified as the principal contractor for the AMRAAM sale.
In September 2025, the US State Department approved a separate potential $8.5 billion Foreign Military Sale to Denmark involving IBCS-enabled Patriot air and missile defence systems and associated equipment.
