US defence contractor executive accused of aiding Russian arms development
A senior executive at a U.S. defence contractor is facing scrutiny over alleged ties to Russian weapons manufacturers.
Konstantin Konev, director of engineering at LMT Defense, maintains professional relationships with several Russian arms producers. LMT Defense is currently fulfilling a $92 million contract with the US Department of Defense, The Insider Telegram channel reports.
According to reports, Konev has hosted joint broadcasts on his YouTube channel featuring Russian weapons manufacturers, military snipers, and pro-war bloggers. In these appearances, he has reportedly offered technical commentary and advice on the development and refinement of small arms.
Two Konev’s former colleagues are said to have contributed to the establishment of production capabilities in Russia for the NATO-standard .375 CheyTac long-range rifle calibre. The ammunition has reportedly been adopted by Russian sniper units.
The allegations have prompted questions about oversight and compliance within the U.S. defence contracting system, particularly at a time of heightened tensions between Washington and Moscow. Neither Konev nor LMT Defense has publicly responded to the claims.
