US embassy in Cyprus issues alert over drone threat in Paphos region
The U.S. Embassy in Nicosia has issued a warning to American citizens in Cyprus regarding a possible drone threat targeting the Paphos region. The embassy advised that people should not visit the embassy unless there is an emergency and urged U.S. citizens to remain alert and take safety precautions.
The embassy outlined steps to protect oneself in the event of an attack. Individuals indoors were advised to move to the lowest level of a building with the fewest exterior walls, close doors, and stay near interior walls away from windows. Those outdoors were instructed to seek cover in a hardened structure, or, if that is not possible, to lie down and protect their head, Caliber.Az reports.

The statement highlighted that even if incoming drones or missiles are intercepted, falling debris could pose significant danger. After an incident, citizens were advised to avoid debris and monitor major news outlets for official guidance.
The embassy also warned against visiting areas near military installations, government buildings, or other potential targets, standing near windows or glass doors, and going outside unnecessarily during active alerts.
