US expresses concern over Georgian ex-president's health condition
US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan said official Washington is concerned over ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili’s health.
"Washington is closely watching the process and views the situation with Saakashvili's health as serious," she added, according to Rustavi 2 TV channel.
"Certainly, this is a very serious situation, what we saw yesterday. Our government, as well as governments of other countries, are closely following this process, and it is a matter of concern," she said.
Degnan said that Georgian authorities must provide the ex-president with all the help he needs. "We continue to monitor this case," the US ambassador added.
The day before Saakashvili, who is undergoing treatment at the Vivamed clinic, showed what he looks like. In the video, Saakashvili lifted his T-shirt on which it was written "Ukrainian", and said that he was getting worse.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on Georgian authorities to release the country's ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili. He is convinced that the politician is being "slowly killed".
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry protested against the "inhumane treatment of Ukrainian citizen Mikheil Saakashvili".
