US intelligence chief visits Israel, inspects Civil-Military Coordination Centre
US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard is in Israel on an official visit.
As part of her trip, she made a surprise visit to the US-operated Civil-Military Coordination Centre (CMCC), where American forces are working on the planning and implementation of phase two in the ceasefire deal, Caliber.Az reports, citing Fox News.
Gabbard said that the CMCC serves as a living example of what can happen when nations unite for common interests, with the potential to create lasting peace that benefits future generations.
"For the first time in a generation, there’s a genuine sense of hope and optimism, not just in Israel, but across the Middle East," Gabbard added.
The CMCC is expected to play a key role in stabilising Gaza by coordinating humanitarian aid and security support initiatives being developed under the broader peace plan proposed by the Trump administration.
The Director of National Intelligence noted that a coalition of 16 countries and 20 NGOs is currently working together within this multinational civilian-military framework to help stabilise Gaza and open a new chapter for the Middle East.
Approximately 200 US service members are currently deployed to support the CMCC’s operations, though they will not enter the Gaza Strip.
Instead, stabilisation personnel from a coalition of Arab nations are expected to deploy into the enclave to help implement the administration’s peace plan.
Gabbard, who also toured the Kerem Shalom Crossing on the Gaza border, is the latest member of the Trump administration to visit Israel as part of ongoing efforts to advance the peace plan.
Her trip follows recent visits by Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.
