US says ready for dialogue with Russia to reduce nuclear risks

The United States, in direct contact with Russian officials, has signalled its readiness to resume dialogue with Russia on reducing nuclear risks and developing new arms control agreements, the American embassy in Moscow told the Kommersant newspaper.

The diplomatic mission noted that Washington is ready to involve Moscow in nuclear risk management and the development of an arms control framework for the period after 2026, i.e. after the expiration of the Strategic Offensive Arms Treaty (START-III).

The US embassy indicated that it is ready to enter into these discussions, but the Russian side has not responded to the proposal, and the diplomatic mission expects a response.
