The US Senator Chris Coons argues Israel's prime minister is undermining a 'positive vision for peace for Israel'.
Chris Coons, D-Del called Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu an "exceptionally difficult partner" for the United States, The Messenger Politics reports.
The senator accused Netanyahu of blatantly undermining President Joe Biden's public messages pushing for a two-state solution in the region.
"Prime Minister Netanyahu has been an exceptionally difficult partner," Coons said on CBS' "Face the Nation," even as Biden remains a staunch supporter of Israel.
"I think President Biden did the right thing right after the shattering — the horrific — attack by Hamas, to go to Israel, to stand strong with Israel, and frankly, to send a firm message to Iran to stay out of this conflict," Coons explained.
The senator was responding to Netanyahu referring to "illusions" of "friends" aftrer Biden pushed for a two-state solution after the Israel-Hamas war.
"I'm proud that I prevented the establishment of a Palestinian state because today everybody understands what that Palestine state could have been, now that we’ve seen the little Palestinian state in Gaza," the Israeli prime minister said, the Times of Israel reported.
