US to send strategic bomber task force to Europe
In the coming days, the United States will deploy a task force of strategic bombers to Europe, as announced by the U.S. Air Force Europe Command.
These bombers will arrive from the continental United States and will be stationed in the command's area of responsibility as part of a long-planned operation, Caliber.Az reports citing the command's website.
The command highlighted that during their deployment, U.S. bomber crews will engage in training and operations alongside NATO allies and partners for several weeks, underscoring the U.S. commitment to global security and stability. However, details regarding the specific location and number of bombers involved have not been disclosed.
Moreover, the United States announced on November 1 plans to deploy B-52 bombers, fighter jets, refuelling aircraft, and Navy destroyers to the Middle East as part of a strategic realignment of military assets, coinciding with the impending departure of the Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group from the region.
The Pentagon stated that these deployments will occur over the coming months, showcasing the U.S. military's global flexibility. Pentagon spokesperson Air Force Major General Patrick Ryder emphasized, "Should Iran, its partners, or its proxies take this opportunity to target American personnel or interests in the region, the United States will take every necessary measure to protect our people."
Over the past year, the United States has stationed as many as two aircraft carriers in the Middle East amid heightened tensions following the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war in October 2023. The departure of the Lincoln will create a gap in aircraft carrier presence until another is rotated into the area.
