US vice president keen to visit Moscow for Ukraine conflict talks
US Vice President JD Vance has affirmed his readiness to visit Moscow to engage in talks aimed at resolving the ongoing Ukraine conflict.
Speaking to Russian media during his participation at the Munich Security Conference, Vance enthusiastically responded, "Of course!" when asked if he would be willing to make the trip for negotiations, Caliber.Az reports.
In a separate interview with The Wall Street Journal on February 14, Vance suggested that direct discussions between the United States and Russia on the Ukrainian crisis could lead to a groundbreaking agreement, one he claimed would "shock a lot of people." His remarks reflect a growing interest in diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict, which has now lasted for over a year.
The possibility of such talks was further emphasized earlier this week when US President Donald Trump announced that representatives from Russia, the United States, and Ukraine are scheduled to meet in Saudi Arabia next week. Trump expressed confidence in Russian President Vladimir Putin's willingness to pursue a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
The developments come as both sides of the ongoing conflict have shown signs of shifting their focus toward potential negotiations, with the US signaling a readiness to engage more actively in peace talks. Vance’s statement adds a new layer to the diplomatic landscape as global attention remains focused on the path to ending the war.
