US withdrawing its troops from Qasrak base in Syria VIDEO
The US military has begun a phased withdrawal of its forces from the Kasrak base in northeast Syria, near Tell Tamr, according to Turkish media outlet Yeni Şafak.
The operation is expected to take about 15 days due to the size of the base and the volume of equipment stationed there. Troops and equipment are being transported in convoys, which have been escorted by Apache helicopters.
After leaving Kasrak, US personnel will be redeployed to Iraq. Overall, the United States plans to gradually withdraw all its military forces from Syria.
The United States has maintained a military presence in Syria for years as part of the international coalition against ISIS (Daesh) and to support allied local forces, especially the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
