Uzbekistan, Gazprom discussing long-term gas supplies
Uzbekistan and Gazprom are negotiating natural gas supplies on a long-term and medium-term basis Energy Minister Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov said in remarks for Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.
“As part of the official visit of the Uzbek president (to Russia), Gazprom and I began negotiations on concluding medium- and long-term contracts for gas supplies,” Mirzamakhmudov said, Gazeta.uz reports.
On October 7, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, together with his colleagues from Russia and Kazakhstan, Vladimir Putin and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, launched the supply of Russian gas to these two countries. Supplies of Russian natural gas to consumers in Uzbekistan will be carried out within the framework of an agreement signed on June 16 as part of SPIEF-2022.
Gas will be supplied to Uzbekistan through the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline system in transit through Kazakh territory, while part of it will also be supplied to Kazakhstan. The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan reported that the agreement was concluded for two years, the volume of supplies will be 9 million cubic metres per day with the annual volume standing at almost 2.8 billion cubic metres.
