Uzbekistan, World Bank discuss new measures to curb methane emissions
Representatives of Uzbekistan’s state energy company Uzbekneftegaz and the World Bank have discussed prospects for cooperation under the Global Flaring and Methane Reduction (GFMR) program, which aims to reduce gas flaring and methane emissions.
During the meeting, the parties explored opportunities for joint projects focused on cutting associated petroleum gas flaring, reducing methane emissions, introducing advanced technologies, and improving the environmental sustainability of the oil and gas sector, Caliber.Az reports per Uzbek media.
The participants also exchanged views on the application of international best practices, improving energy efficiency, and implementing initiatives aimed at reducing the industry's carbon footprint.
Uzbekneftegaz noted that cooperation with the World Bank remains one of the key components of its efforts to modernise production processes in line with modern environmental standards.
According to the company, the partnership is expected to help accelerate the implementation of initiatives supporting Uzbekistan’s broader green transformation agenda.
