Venezuelan president approves comprehensive defence law to strengthen army
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has signed into law the bill on the command of the nation’s comprehensive defence, previously approved by parliament.
Maduro said during a broadcast on Venezolana de Televisión that the law establishes the creation, in accordance with the country’s constitution, of a comprehensive defence command at the national level, at the level of each state, and across the republic’s 335 municipalities, Caliber.Az reports.
The command at all levels, he noted, “is tasked with preparing the National Bolivarian Armed Forces to operate under any conditions.”
The president emphasised that from the moment the law is signed, comprehensive defence commands must be formed and begin operating throughout the country.
In developing the defence doctrine, a concept of comprehensive defence was formulated to preserve peace, ensure the all-round development of the nation, and encompass various forms of the republic’s struggle, the head of state explained.
Maduro stressed that the Venezuelan people “must embrace the concept of comprehensive defence to guarantee their constitutional rights.”
