Vessel struck by unidentified projectile near Strait of Hormuz

A vessel was struck by an unidentified projectile near the Strait of Hormuz, damaging its steering mechanism, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).

The incident occurred about 17 nautical miles east of Dibba in the United Arab Emirates, UKMTO said, Caliber.Az reports.

The vessel’s master reported that the ship had been hit by an unknown projectile, causing damage to its steering gear. All crew members were reported safe, and no environmental impact was reported.

Authorities are investigating the incident. UKMTO advised vessels operating in the area to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity.
