Western Azerbaijan Community accuses EU’s Toivo Klaar of discrimination against expelled Azerbaijanis
The Western Azerbaijan Community has accused Toivo Klaar, the European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus, of interfering in Azerbaijan’s internal affairs and exhibiting discrimination against Azerbaijanis.
The European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Toivo Klaar, claims the right of return for Armenians who voluntarily left Azerbaijan, but denies that Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia also have such a right, the Community said responding to Klaar’s press statement dated August 4, Caliber.Az reports
"With such statements, Toivo Klaar interferes in the internal affairs of Azerbaijan and shows discrimination against Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia. Moreover, Klaar emphasised that the Armenians who left the Karabagh region are a ‘special case’. Apparently, the EU representative gave himself the authority to grant people rights on the basis of ethnicity.
The words of the European Union Special Representative prove that the EU cannot accept the fact that Azerbaijan has restored its territorial integrity. All of the above, as well as the EU's allocation of military aid to Armenia, ignoring the fact that this country receives huge sums of money from smuggling sanctioned goods, which it spends on arms, and the sale of large quantities of weapons to Armenia by EU states such as France serve to increase tension in the region.
We strongly condemn Toivo Klaar's discrimination against Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia and his interference in Azerbaijan's internal affairs," the Community said.
